Gündoğan's defining quality is calm. There is none of Türkbükü's beach-club tempo or Yalıkavak marina's bustle. Even in summer the seafront stays relatively relaxed until the evening, which is a real advantage for families, couples and anyone who feels shy in front of a camera. When there is no crowd, people loosen up, poses become natural and the pictures feel more personal.

The slopes around the bay are full of villas and holiday homes, and many families spend their holidays in them. We can start the session in the villa garden, by the pool or on a terrace with a view, then walk down to the beach in a few minutes.

Light and timing in Gündoğan

The bay faces north, which gives light quite unlike the southern coast. The sun comes from behind or from the side for most of the day, the sea glares less and colours look more saturated. In the late afternoon the sun drops behind the western hills relatively early, and the bay sits for a while in soft, even shade.

1. Early morning: As the name suggests, one of the loveliest times. The sea is usually still, the beach empty and the light gentle. Ideal for family sessions and villa exteriors.
2. Late afternoon: Once the sun is behind the hills, the bay fills with soft, shadow-free light that gives natural skin tones without harsh contrast.
