Light and timing in Bitez

The bay faces south, so through the middle of the day the sun sits in front of and to the side of the water. Shadows are harsh and the sea throws strong reflections. For portraits and family sessions we recommend two windows:

1. Early morning (first 90 minutes after sunrise): The beach is empty, the water is glassy and children are fresh. Restaurants have not opened yet, so we can use the piers freely.
2. Late-afternoon golden hour: As the sun drops west it slips behind the hills, giving warm, soft light and a long, gentle dusk. This is our favourite time for couples.

Tip: In July and August the promenade gets busy in the evening. For quieter frames choose May, June, September or October, or book an early-morning slot in high summer.

Seasons and practical notes

The season in Bitez is long. From late April to November the sea and weather suit outdoor shoots, and September and October, with warm water and softer light, are arguably the best months of all. In winter the bay is very peaceful, and when the mandarin orchards are heavy with fruit you can have a completely different, orange-toned family session.

Before photographing on a restaurant pier or among the sunbeds, it is polite to ask the business for permission, and we coordinate that as part of the planning.
