What makes yacht and boat photography different in Bodrum

Working on a boat calls for a different discipline than a shoot on land. The floor moves, light changes within minutes, and space is limited. Wide-angle lenses open up a tight salon without distorting it, and angles close to the waterline make a boat look more commanding than it does from eye level. At a yacht launch you need to catch the travel lift's movement, the crew's coordination and the exact moment the hull touches the water; on a boat tour you need to catch guests' genuine laughter and the view in the same frame. That distinction shapes everything, whether the footage is for marketing or a personal memory, and we give both the same care.

Light, sea and season

Light changes far faster over water than on land: the surface reflects, and shadows soften differently. At midday, with the sun directly overhead, a hull looks flat and loses its detail, so we schedule yacht and boat shoots for early morning or the last few hours before sunset, golden hour. At those times the sea is calmer and the light brings out the lines of the hull, the gloss of the paint and the chrome detailing.

The afternoon meltem wind in summer is an asset for sailing shots but can complicate hair and fabric control on an open deck. May–June and September–October are the most stable months for both the sea and the sky, and the most comfortable for photography.

Tip: When photographing a yacht at the marina, choose a 45-degree angle to the sun rather than shooting straight into it or with it directly behind you: the hull keeps its shine and shadows stay soft.

How a boat shoot unfolds

Every project is different, but a typical day looks like this:

• Site visit: We confirm the type of boat, the route, the number of guests and the purpose of the shoot, marketing or a personal memory.
• Preparation: We check the deck layout, equipment placement and safety points.
• On the water: We shoot photo and video underway and at anchor, balancing interior and exterior.
• Drone segment: Where suitable, we capture the boat's position and route from above.
• Edit and delivery: Selected images are colour-graded and delivered in an online gallery.

For a one-time, unrepeatable moment like a yacht launch, we reduce the risk by recording the event from more than one angle at the same time.

Marinas and locations

The peninsula offers very different scenes within a single day. The calm bay at Türkbükü is ideal for sunset light on anchored boats. Out at sea, a sailboat with Bodrum Castle in the background or a speedboat shot from above in a turquoise cove adds real impact to a brand or a memory.

Gulet interiors, fashion and lifestyle shoots

With their wide decks and timber textures, gulets naturally become a studio for both fashion and lifestyle photography. A model posing at the helm or on the bowsprit tells the boat's character together with the product. Indoors, shooting the salon, wheelhouse and cabins with a wide angle and without disturbing the natural light shows the true volume of a boat for charter or sale. This kind of work is usually planned the same way as product photography: sharp focus, accurate colour and a clean composition that puts the product first.

The view from above with a drone

The best way to show a boat's true scale and its relationship with the water is from above. Drone footage captures a yacht's white wake, the turquoise tones of a bay, or an entire fleet launch in a single frame. Drone flights in Türkiye require registration with the civil aviation authority (SHGM) and, in some zones, additional permission, so we handle the flight planning and the permit side for you.

Marketing shoots for charter companies and shipyards

For boat tour operators and shipyards, visual content translates directly into bookings and sales.
